Total Team Meters 3,788,742

February 7, 2014: Thirty-one alumni & friends pitched in to row 3,788,742 meters in the annual C2 January Virtual Team Challenge (JVTC). For the challenge rowers had to row as many meters as possible between January 1 and January 31 then log their daily meters using the Concept 2 Logbook. The results were then ranked against other teams. The SARA team finished in 37th place out of 338 teams -- an improvement of 3 places over 2013 and another meter record! Thank you to everyone that participated.

The Case/SARA team returned to form by beating the alumni team from the University of Chicago after losing in 2013. The UC alumni increased their participation and meters this year, but we were able to hold them off by 144km. The action was neck-and-neck all month and they only finished two spots back in 39th place. This was the first year we beat UC student team (a separate ranking group). The UC undergrads split the difference and finishd in 38th place! Talk about tight racing for three teams.

Leading the charge for SARA again this year was Darin Epstein who is a friend of Case Crew and rowed 400,137 meters! The top alumni finisher was SARA Vice President Dan Bachmann with 271,244 meters. Two more people than last year broke the 200km mark and earned a free Case Crew hat. Congratulations to everyone and a special thank you to the 10 alumni earning their 2014 hat.
